Editor review

Stack Guild runs a battle-royale mode with sixteen-player lobbies. The shrinking play area pushes engagement; the average round runs four to five minutes. The lobby size sits in the right band for the format; smaller lobbies feel underpopulated and larger lobbies blur the player roster.

The shrinking-area mechanic is well-tuned. The area shrinks at three checkpoints during a round and the third shrink forces a final fight in a small zone. Players who avoid combat for too long get pushed into the final shrink and find themselves outmatched.

I played across a Galway Galway bus commute and a longer evening session. The format suits both.

The weakness is the loot rotation. Loot drops are random and a player can spawn into a low-loot zone and lose the round before finding a working weapon. A guaranteed-loot starting kit would help. Three-and-a-half stars overall.
